 :: EN:VISION | RE:CONNECT RECORDINGS ::

Re:Connect Records was originally set up to showcase the tougher side of "big system" breaks, kicking off in 2003 with Spanish producers SFX Beats mighty tune "Serious Sound". From then the label championed this sound through building up the roster, and putting out further releases from High Eight, Transformer Man, and Madam Breaks.

In 2004 the label discovered Merka, aka Mark Ford, who brought to the table a huge release in the form of Holding On & Flabbo, a two-tracker showing off his awesome production, and skills with a Bass Station. Holding On was licensed for the Freestylers' Fabric Compilation and was a huge hit within the breaks community. Second releases from SFX Beats (Carnival / Hungry) and High Eight (Open Your Eyes / Thru Time) kept the quality high and the release schedule flowing into 2005, when the label were lucky enough to release two fantastic tracks from Greece-based producer Etostone. This started a turning point in the direction the label was going in, opting still for tough style, but leaning more towards a crossover appeal to all breaks fans.

Merka

Towards the end of 2005 Re:Connect released the incredibly funky Refunk single Glade Belter / It's Groovy, and due for release any day is a much more subdued tune from Janette Slack - Never Enough. Janette Slack's release saw the second major direction change, being backed with a dirty house mix from another newcomer Dogmatix. These two incredibly talented up and coming producers are forging the way forward for the label, alongside long-time Re:Connect artist High Eight whose newest offering due out in early 2006 will be a full vocal track backed with remixes from Janette Slack, Splitloop and Dogmatix.

In the two years the label has been around the sound has changed, but the ethos of the label has remained intact - keeping the quality high and offering something a little different to the rest.

En:Vision Records started life in 2002 to showcase the wealth of talent that had been picked up on by Glen "FFS" Nicholls, who launched the label by releasing "Menace/2-Bit Hooker", a collaboration between Digital Pimp and R-Kidz, backed with a remix of the latter track by FFS himself. C83 sent in a CD of some of their work, and immediately Glen signed "Taurus", and sought the remix talents of up-and-coming producer Kraymon to rework "Neptune" to create a killer single that is still played today.

The ethos of the label was to keep quality high, and to release tracks that would sound fresh even in years to come.This ethos was clearly evident on the 3rd En:Vision release from Dark Mode, aka Clatterbox, who Glen had known from his time spent in the Westcountry, and whose work he had been a fan of since the days of Clear Records. This pushed the more electro side of the label, and was a big seller Stateside.

High Eight

Releases from D-Pimp and Madam Breaks finished off 2002 and saw through a successful first year of releases for the label, which was taken to new heights in 2003 on the release of C83's second single "Back In The Day". It came backed with a remix from EK, and the original was a blissed out summer anthem which rocked any dancefloor it came into contact with. In stark contrast, the next release was again a two-tracker from En:Vision regular D-Pimp, with two harder tracks "Frequency/Overload".Kraymon returned for his own smasher "Who Wants Some", which came backed with a remix from breaks don Elite Force, and was followed up by another well respected producer Chris Carter with the extreme funk of "Botty Funk".

More releases from Madam Breaks, C83 (including the Tamra vocal fuelled "Twisted Logic"), Silken and New Zealander DJ Phully bring us up to date, and the label is still pushing out quality releases. Looking back over the back catalogue, there is no particular En:Vision style other than quality production and tracks that stand the test of time.
